The Cuba Circulating Library is kicking off its 2026 Summer Reading Program on Monday, June 29, and the community is invited to join the fun! Participants of all ages can sign up using the ReadSquared app, making it easy to log reading time, earn rewards, and track progress from anywhere. Adult readers can join in the fun too — stop by the front desk to pick up a Book Bingo sheet and start checking off squares all summer long.

“We have something for everyone this summer,” said Library Director Tina Dalton. “Whether you’re a reader, a learner, or someone who just wants to try something new, the library is the place to be.”

Stop the Bleed & Hands-Only CPR — Monday, June 30 at 6 p.m. The week gets off to a powerful start with a potentially life-saving program on Monday evening. Through the nationally recognized STOP THE BLEED® course, participants will learn to recognize life-threatening bleeding and intervene effectively. The person closest to a bleeding victim is often the one best positioned to save a life — this course gives you the skills and confidence to do exactly that.

The evening will also include instruction in wilderness first aid, covering how to respond to injuries in remote areas where medical care may be hours away. Participants will also learn Hands-Only CPR, a technique that can significantly increase a victim’s chance of survival when administered immediately. Registration is required. Free and open to ages 6 and up, but those under ages 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Dinosaur Dig with Mike and Roberta Straka — Wednesday, July 1 at 1 p.m. On Wednesday afternoon, the library transforms into a paleontologist’s playground as Mike and Roberta Straka bring their Dinosaur Dig presentation to Cuba. The program features Mr. Nixon, an impressive eight-foot Triceratops skull the team discovered in South Dakota in 1996. Attendees will get to dig up a real Triceratops bone, help construct a dinosaur on a large cut-out, and explore rare fossils up close.

The Strakas will also set up a mini-museum showcasing photos and minerals from their summer digs. With audience participation, a touch of magic, and plenty of hands-on excitement, this one is not to be missed — for kids and grown-ups alike. Open to all ages, no registration required.

Pop Art Dino Paintings — Thursday, July 2 at 3:30 p.m. The dinosaur theme continues on Thursday with a creative twist. Teens and tweens ages 9–18 are invited to paint their own mini pop art dinosaur on a 5×7 canvas, choosing from four dinosaur options and painting in whatever style inspires them. Outlines and tracing paper will be available for those who want a little extra help getting started.

Space is limited and registration is required. To sign up, contact the Cuba Circulating Library at (585) 968-1668, email [email protected], or reach out on Facebook.
